What is the Charitable Union?
The Charitable Union is a local non-profit that provides clothing and small household items, at no cost, to those in need.

Can I shop at Charitable Union?
You can shop if you have need. To prove need you can use a Medicaid card, a food stamp card, or a referral from another social service agency or church, such as Summit Pointe, Washington Heights, Community Action, etc.

You may also call 211 and ask you a referral to our agency.

What do I need to do in order to shop at Charitable Union?
If order to shop at Charitable Union we need social security numbers and birthdates for each person listed on your card.

How can I get a card?
You can get a card by calling 211 and asking for a referral to us. You may also bring in your Medicaid card or “Bridge” card. We will also need social security cards and birth dates of everyone on your card.

What are your shopping hours?

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9:00am - 4:00pm
Thursday and Friday CLOSED
2nd Saturday 9:00am - noon

What do you offer?
We have:

  • Clothing for babies, children and adults
  • Shoes
  • Small household items
  • Books
If I want to add someone to my card what do I need?
In order to add someone we will need the social security number and birth date of that person.

If I have a new baby what do I need to add him/her to my card?
We will need proof of birth in order to add the new baby. You can bring one of the following:

  • Birth certificate
  • Certificate from the hospital with feet prints
  • Bracelet from the hospital with baby’s name on it
  • WIC referral
If I am pregnant when can I shop for the baby?
You can begin to shop for the baby when you are seven months pregnant.

What is a “layette” and how do I get one for the baby?
A layette is a package filled with items to use with your newborn. It includes:

  • Baby bottles
  • Diapers
  • Handmade receiving blanket
  • Onesies and more
Do you have furniture?
No, you must call 211 and tell them what you need. They will help you find what you need.

Employee Access, Training and Expectations -- Our organization values, ethical standards, policies and practices are committed to the protection of user information. In general, our business practices limit employee access to confidential information, and limit the use and disclosure of such information to authorized persons, processes and transactions.
  10. How Can You Access and Correct Your Information? You may request access to all your personally identifiable information that we collect online and maintain in our database by emailing us using the contact form provided to you within the site structure of our website.
  11. Do We Disclose Information to Outside Parties? We may provide aggregate information about our customers, sales, website traffic patterns and related website information to our affiliates or reputable third parties, but this information will not include personally identifying data, except as otherwise provided in this privacy policy.

Donation Refund Policy

We are grateful for your donation and support of our organization. If you have made an error in making your donation or change your mind about contributing to our organization please contact us. Refunds are returned using the original method of payment. If you made your donation by credit card, your refund will be credited to that same credit card.

Automated Recurring Donation Cancellation

Ongoing support is important to enabling projects to continue their work, so we encourage donors to continue to contribute to projects over time. But if you must cancel your recurring donation, please notify us.
